Research and Development Engineer
Education:
HNC/HND or Engineering Degree in an electrical/electronic-related discipline.
Other Skills:
Good level of computer skills are needed I.E: Excel, Word, Power Point & adobe photo.
Job Purpose:
Research and develop test and repair strategies for new and existing products that will help ensure business growth and maximise market position. To ensure that all new and existing products have the relevant documentation and tooling to produce a safe and repeatable quality product. Interface with Production and Quality departments to resolve product failures related to technology. Provide necessary training on tools / applications that have been productionised.

This role requires an individual with strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach, good documentation skills with an eye for detail. A good strong logical mind and hands-on approach are essential to succeed in this position along with a willingness to learn.
Required Skills:
·HNC/HND or Engineering Degree in an electrical/electronic-related discipline.
·Ability to work independently using own initiative.
·Fault find to component level analogue and digital electronic circuits without the aid of a schematic.
·Use of test equipment such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
·Able to develop test equipment/fixturing.
·Solder surface mount and through-hole electronic components.
·Working knowledge of Automotive communication protocols such as CANbus.
Desirable Skills:
·Software programming such as C/C++.
·Use of Automotive diagnostic equipment e.g. TEXA and Vector CANalyser.
Specific Duties:
·Provide technical support for the remanufacture of electrical steering racks.
·Without the aid of schematics reverse engineer electrical hardware of steering racks.
·Use of diagnostic equipment to determine steering rack fault codes.
·Determine what communication protocol steering racks use (i.e. CAN, CAN FD) and source the data required to “Turn On” the steering rack.
·Develop functional test equipment that can communicate with steering rack via CANbus, CAN FD or FlexRay communication lines.
·Research new Automotive communication protocols such as FlexRay and CAN FD.
·Reduce Production scrap of Steering racks caused by electronic failures, by identifying repair methods.
·Support Warranty department with the reduction of customer claims relating to technology issues.
·Ensure test equipment and fixturing are available for new product introduction.
·Maintain and develop test equipment for already existing steering racks.
·Ensure all R&D / NPI documentation is keep up to date.
·Research and reverse engineer other Automotive technologies when required by the business.
·Train production operators on steering component failure repair methods.
·Produce work instructions for the test and repair of steering components.
·Adhere to company H&S policies.

Production Operative
Our client is one of Europe’s largest, most skilled and experienced companies in the automotive parts of the remanufacturing industry.
They are experiencing significant growth, so are currently looking to recruit Production Operatives to join our growing team at our site in Wednesbury to remanufacture used car parts. They specialize in the remanufacturing of steering products so are looking for driven and motivated candidates to provide high quality units that enables us to reach our goal in providing the best customer service
As a remanufacturing business, their processes are not automated and rely on hand tools, manual labour and keen eye for detail, so they are looking for candidates who are willing to undertake various aspects of the remanufacturing process such as:
Disassemble
Cleaning
Inspection and sorting
Reconditioning and replacement
Final Test
A training plan will be given to the successful candidate to enable them to learn and develop new skills.
This role is a full time, permanent role working Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.00am -3.30pm with opportunities for overtime where required.
The desired candidate will have:
· Previous experience within a remanufacturing/mechanical background
· Previous experience of performing to high quality standards
· The ability to follow visual work instructions
· Experience using a variety of hand tools such as drills, air guns and hammers
· The ability to work to targets daily
· A keen interest in diagnostics and mechanics
